inspection information: what is a home or building inspection?

An inspection is a thorough visual examination of the building envelope, structural components, major systems: electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling, and interior design and construction. Major deficiencies, safety concerns, and required repairs are addressed.

Because our inspectors are Department of Environmental Conservation certified pesticide technicians, we can verify a property is free of termites, a necessary requirement for some mortgages. If an insect problem exists, we can determine the type and severity of the infestation and suggest corrective measures, advising on the least toxic methods available.

Thermal imaging is used to determine moisture conditions and insulation deficiencies. In addition, Stellar Inspection Service is licensed by New York State to verify and identify mold growth and determine the extent of required remediation. We are also licensed by the State of New York to inspect for asbestos containing materials and evaluate the condition of presumed asbestos containing material.

If you are buying, selling, or renovating a building or residence, you need to be aware of any potential safety hazards or hidden damage. Having a professional inspection will place you in a better position to make a buying decision or, if renovating, allow you to pinpoint and prioritize specific problems before beginning construction.
